Annual Church PicnicWorship service at 10:30 a.m. followed by our annual congregational picnic of hamburgers, hot dogs, and brats. Please bring a side dish or dessert to share. Site is Broad Ripple Park, large shelter with stage area, use back entrance. BrunchesOne Sunday each month, we gather at 9:30 a.m. for a pitch-in brunch. This is a good timebetween servicesto meet others in the congregation. Dining InDining In groups organize annually. They meet monthly in each other's homes for an evening of homemade food and fun. Dining OutAll adults are welcome each month to "Dine Out" at a selected Indianapolis restaurant. You may sign up to hostwhich means you pick the restaurant and make the reservation. Bridge NutzA bridge club meets monthly at a member's home, on the second Sunday of the month. Off the Beaten Path Book ClubA women's book club meets about every other month to discuss a book selection and share desserts. Men's BreakfastAbout once a month, men of the congregation gather for breakfast on Saturday morning at 7:30. We have speakers on various topics. Summer ActivitiesThe summer brings fellowship around Lemonade on the Lawn each Sunday, and everyone looks forward to the outdoor worship service and annual church picnic toward the end of the summer. Advent & ChristmasWe annually celebrate the feast of St. Lucia, which is special to Scandinavian Americans. Women of the congregation gather for Advent by Candlelight, an evening of calmness and serenity, dessert and devotions. On Christmas Eve we have punch and Christmas cookies between the evening services. Lenten EventsThe day before Lent starts, we prepare a traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper for everyone. On Wednesdays during Lent, beginning with Ash Wednesday, we have Soup and Salad dinners at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Lenten service of Evening Prayer. Other Special EventsFrom time to time other special events are publicized in the Blaze newsletter and in the Sunday bulletin. |
